Cake Poker returns 2005 WSOP Bracelet to TJ Cloutier

Earlier in the week a news post on luckyroom.com had announced that a $5,000 NL Holdem WSOP won by TJ Cloutier in 2005 was spotted on ebay for sale only to be followed from a post shortly later that the Gold WSOP bracelet was sold for $4,006 after a total of 5 bids. Earlier in the day today the mystery buyer was revealed as we came across a blog post on the official Cake Poker blog stating that the US facing poker room was the final bidder for the WSOP bracelet and the bracelet was on its way to Cake Poker Head Quarters.
The actual blog post from Cake Poker stated the following “Hey this is a cool piece of poker history. We love poker. We should buy a WSOP bracelet!” So we did” Since winning the bid, and celebrating wildly, we have taken some time to reflect on our glorious new prize. As much as we would love to have a WSOP bracelet, or even award it to one of our cherished poker players, we can’t, in good conscience, keep it from the man who rightfully won it; which is why we’ve decided to return it to TJ Cloutier… just as soon as we’re done having some fun with it.
No, there will be no sacrilegious treatment of the artifact, but we figure we’ve earned a few photo shoots with it, maybe a couple nights wearing it to a buddy’s home game. We’ll just hold onto it for a couple days. Call it a finder’s fee. It is well mentioned that the actual bracelet which went for sale on ebay had paid off TJ Cloutier $660,000 for his effort in earning it back in 2005 so is clearly an item that possesses sentimental and no other value at all.
Cloutier who has earned more than $10 million in his overall poker playing career is said to have sold it due to shortage of cash flow which is traced behind his bad craps playing habit. The real reasons behind the sale have not been officially verified by any third party and are only speculations and conclusions made by third party online poker portals and poker forums.
Cake Poker is the flagship online poker room of the popular US friendly Cake Network which has only recently announced the empowering of Unabomber Poker to add up to its participating online poker members which amongst others include Doyles Room, Players Only Poker and Power Poker.
