Coppa del Rey Spanish Cup Quarter Final

Tonight at 19:00 GMT Atletico Madrid will host the first leg against Celta de Vigo for the quarter final of the Spanish Cup competition; Atletico which is performing quite well lately in the Primera Division had early disappointing performances which have pushed them down to the 11th position, 23 points behind the leaders. Atletico has both the quality and the desire to prevail over a weak Celta side as the Spanish Cup seems to be the only way for next year European qualification. In the last five matches Atletico has played they secured 1 defeat, 1 draw and managed 3 straight wins. Their home record is quite good with 4 wins, 3 draws and just 2 defeats.
In their last cup match Celta managed to secure an away victory over Villarreal and progress to the next round of the competition. Celta is not performing well in the second division league and reaching the Spanish Cup quarter final can be described as a small miracle. Atletico Madrid will not have the services of two key players; the first one is the experienced left back Antonio Lopez and the tenacious defensive midfielder Assuncao. Diego Forlan is ready to play but he might not be in the starting eleven due to intensive training schedule. On the other hand, Celta’s manager most probably will use the same eleven that played against Villarreal using a defensive oriented formation such as 5-4-1 or 4-5-1.
On the online sports books, Atletico is clear favorites with the home win down to 1.35, the draw to 4.50 and the away win to 8.50. It might seem like an easy game to predict but this is a match that can go either ways. It is either that Atletico will score many goals and win very easily or Celta will be able to counter the offensive play of their opponents (like they did against Villarreal) and secure a draw – most likely 0-0 or 1-1. However, a bet with really good odds is the halftime / fulltime: X / Atletico (draw at halftime / final winners the Atletico Madrid). This bet pays around 4.40 and it is not unlikely to work out for punters.
