Deal goes sour for Boeing and Ryanair

Discussions led by Ryanair and Boeing regarding the 200 aircraft order has come to a dead end because of disagreement with the contract, announced today by the Irish low cost carrier. The deal concerned B737-800 aircrafts which were to be delivered between 2013 and 2016. “Ryanair has made it clear to Boeing that the aircraft order will not go through as it is considered that either the pricing or other terms of the contract are lower than those we enjoy today,” said company CEO Michael O’Liri. Management estimates that the suspension of negotiations on the above order will not affect its plans to purchase 112 Boeing aircrafts to be delivered between 2010 and 1012, of which the 48 are to be delivered in 2010.
“We plan to resume discussions with Boeing or another manufacturer” said O’Liri. “However, we will focus on maintaining the strong opening of Ryanair and the development of new routes in 2010.” Forex traders or investors should be aware that the above deal is likely to affect boeing’s stock price.
