Jenson Button was the winner of the Chinese Grand Prix and along side with Lewis Hamilton who finished the race second and gave McLaren Mercedes the first 1-2 of the year. Despite the fact that McLaren’s pilots started the race from 5th and 6th position respectively they managed to mastermind the grand prix race with an excellent strategy which secured them the victory. Third was Nico Rosberg with his Mercedes; the German started the race from 4th spot but he took advantage of the wrong strategy of Red Bull and he secured the third spot. Alonso in Ferrari and Robert Kubica in Renault claimed the fourth and fifth positions while Vettel who begun from the Pole Position finished the race 6th.
Vitaly Petrov managed to finished in 7th spot after his first solid driving performance; this was a result that without any doubt will boost the confidence of the young Russian pilot plus it offered to the Renault team the vital race points for the constructors championship. Mark Webber finally finished 8th after he started the race in the second position while Felipe Massa in Ferrari and Michael Schumacher in Mercedes got the last points remaining points.
Once again the weather was the factor which determined the route of the race as the many teams called in their drivers to change tyres from slicks to intermediate. However, the rain was not as heavy as they expected and this had as a result the pilots to worn off the intermediate tyres very quickly. Then the teams called again the drivers for another pit stop to switch again to slicks but after a few laps, the rain started again imposing all the teams to switch to intermediate tyres type.
Once incident marked the race as Hamilton and Vettel touched inside the pit lane after the second tyres change. The stewards announced that will look in the incident but given the fact that no harm done most likely will be no penalties for any of them.
Without any doubt, the Chinese grand prix was an excellent race with many overruns and exciting driving. Jenson Button’s victory boosts him in the first spot in Formula 1 standings 10 points ahead of Nico Rosberg. The German has clearly dominated his team mate Michael Schumacher in every aspect of race or qualification results. In the third spot of the Formula 1 drivers’ standings is Alonso with Ferrari. With this victory McLaren tops the standings in Constructors championship with 109 points followed by Ferrari with 90 and Red Bull with 73. Click here to check the Formula 1 standings tables.
