Manchester United tops Premiership Standings

Manchester United is the big winner of the 31st match day of Premiership as they secured a very important home victory against Liverpool. This was the first time since March 2008 that they managed to secure a win over Liverpool and perhaps the most important one as now they are toping the Premier League standings with 69 points after 31 games. Although Liverpool scored first, Manchester United managed to level the match with a controversial penalty as Mascherano pushed Valencia outside the box but the referee ordered a penalty kick. Rooney managed to score and Man U leveled the match. Fifteen minutes after the beginning of the second half, Manchester United managed to score with Park and to take the lead with 2-1. The changes Rafa Benitez made didn’t help the team to regain control of the match and the end of the match found Sir Alex Ferguson’s team to celebrate a very important victory.
With this win, Manchester United topped the Premier League standings with 69 points after 31 games. Two points behind is Arsenal who manage to secure a win over West Ham with a 2-0 score while Chelsea dropped third with 65 points after 30 matches as the Blues were not able to secure an away win over Blackburn. On the other hand, Liverpool remained at the sixth position with 51 points after 31 games but now the task for the fourth position that leads to Champions League playoffs is very hard. Tottenham is currently at the fourth spot with 55 points after 30 games while Manchester City is fifth with 53 points after 29 games.
At the bottom of the table, the most important results were the away draw of Wolves against Aston Villa and Sunderland’s home win over Birmingham. Those two teams most likely will stay in the Premier League while the future of Burnley and Hull is extremely doubtful despite the fact that both of them are close by to the safety zone. A question mark exists over West Ham as the team lies just above the relegation zone. Next Premiership fixtures are scheduled for Tuesday 23rd March (West Ham V Wolves 20:00 GMT) and Wednesday 24th March (Aston Villa V Sunderland 19:45 GMT, Manchester City V Everton 19:45 GMT, Portsmouth V Chelsea 19:45 GMT and Blackburn V Birmingham 20:00 GMT), betting odds and betting suggestions are to be released early tomorrow based on the odds released by the major online sports betting operators.
