New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts managed to overcome the obstacles of Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets respectively and progress to the great NFL Super Bowl Final. Saints and Colts had the home advantage and this was sufficient for securing a great victory – until the next one. The Vikings Vs Saints game went on a frenzy scoring pace with both teams answer immediately to the other.
Vikings took the lead with a 14-7 at the end first quarter while Saints responded back with a 0-7 score at the second quarter tying the game at half time. On the third and fourth quarter each team scored from 7 points and therefore the Over Time was needed in order to see which team will progress to the Super Bowl. The Sudden Death rule at Over Time worked in favor of New Orleans as the Saints managed to score 3 points and win this exciting game with a total score of 28-31. New Orleans celebrates this emphatic victory as they are heading to their first Super Bowl final. Everyone in the team dedicated this great victory to the city of New Orleans which had suffered a tremendous loss after the Katrina Hurricane. Yesterday, the Bourbon Street was once again crowded with people, celebrating this great win.
On the other game, Colts had absolutely no problem at all to secure a win against the New York Jets. Both teams focused mainly on their defense and as a result the first quarter ended with no scored points. On the second quarter, the Jets manage to get the lead with 4 points (17-13) but then the Colts scored 17 uncalled points in a row and manage to win the game with a total score of 17-30.
The Colts second half performance was a joy to behold as a solid defense performance was feeding the effective offence. The Super Bowl game is scheduled for Sunday February 7th at the Dolphin Stadium in Miami and we will have to wait a few days to see if the balanced play of the Colts can prevail over a high morale Saints team. Sportsbooks have the Colts as favorites with a 5.5 spread and the over under total scored points is up to 56; but this surely will change as we approach closer to the game day.
