The extreme weather conditions which are raiding north and central Europe seem to have a positive impact on online poker, as major online poker rooms and online gaming operators report increased European traffic during the past week which they explain to be primarily due to cancellation of sporting events and concequently sports betting and additionally to mobility problems that have been caused by the extreme weather conditions in Europe. London is experiencing some of the lowest temperatures it has seen for decades, and it seems that the majority of people are keeping with the safety of their own homes. Many sports events have been canceled due to bad weather which has caused a drop in sports betting events available and a diversification of sports betting fans to online poker or even online casino games for the sites that offer a shared roof for gaming. Betfair and William Hill have reported an increase of 20% in traffic and suprisingly Betfair has made available extra tournaments with the name “Snow Show”. The weather is expected to improve over the next week and eventually figures will get back to their normal rates.
