The largest growing US facing poker room online has successfully integrated its latest software update late last week and reports show a 100% successful upgrade which overall has been commented positively by the majority of players and the poker community. The latest upgrade includes minor bug fixes and a total makeover of the Classic View which has found its substitute from the Mini View. The new improved and revised lobby is a mini version of the standard view with no gaps in terms of features but just a more convenient approach to players using smaller screens or playing poker on laptops.

Additionally finding a seat is now much more easier as the popular card room has introduced the ring game table finder which prevents you from being put on a waiting list for a specific table but now offers you the opportunity to enter a waiting list for a type of table therefore making it a much more hassle free procedure to find a seat on table; additionally when a seat does open you are automatically enabled with the opportunity to claim the seat and information is directly available in regards to the table itself.

Even more coming with the latest software update fulltiltpoker.com has introduced achievement badges which is a type of accomplishment sign which shows around a players name on the table therefore distinguishing a player seated at a specific fulltiltpoker.com table with either a Rush Poker Poker Badge, a Full Tilt Poker Academy Badge, a True Poker Badge or an Iron Man Badge depending on what the player has accomplished during his poker playing experience at the popular card room. Finally tables with only 1 player seated do not any more show in the lobby in a random order and not in an alphabetical order as before.

Call of Action

The PokerStars VIP Program, Loyalty Program or PokerStars Rakeback equivalent program adds additional value this month as the worlds largest online poker [...]

The PokerStars VIP Program, Loyalty Program or PokerStars Rakeback equivalent program adds additional value this month as the worlds largest online poker room has announced the Micromania promotion which will be catering to mainly rookies and introduction level online poker players while at the same time allowing 50% additional of VIP rewards which will be topping up the existing VIP structure. Good timing we would say as the 2010 WSOP has done poker a great advertising plan which the card rooms ranking highly on major search engines being able to take advantage of the new blood in the best of ways as more and more rookies will be searching to explore online poker and start practicing to become the next WSOP featured persona.

Its worth mentioning that rival poker rooms online have recently cut off rakeback players as simply said offering rakeback on top of sign up bonus was just proving to be a non efficient business therefore leading to the decision to cut off players with accounts offering rakeback payments; we would say that pokerstars.com has once again stood on to their position widely with the usual policy which simply clarifies to rivals a strategy saying “once your done with your experiments and left broke; we’ll step in and get the job done”; wise?

Well yes as being the worlds largest online poker room is a title that does not come for free and pokerstars.com has surely played its own cards correctly as It has replayed the same strategy twice when it use to give maximum 100% sign up bonus for deposits up to $50 when other rooms where tossing out 200% up to €1000 plus 30% rakeback on top of that and after everybody else was left breathless and penniless the popular card room stepped in and said as from today we give players 100% up to $600; so how’s that?

Simply said competition attempted to fool themselves by faking the numbers by offering more than they could really afford and forcing skin or white label owners to sustain the losses that resulted from a non efficient and non effective marketing strategy. In poker and generally in online gaming businesses the trick is not getting players in its keeping them in by having something to offer them and in this case it’s mathematically clear that when you pay the player all that money to get him in your realistically left with no liquidity to keep the tables busy by running attractive promotions attractive tournaments or being able to reward the players that will keep your site alive; meaning that sooner or later you’ll be left with a dead network and a lot of expensively paid acquisitions. Wise? Well I wouldn’t really say so.

The bottom line is that with the UIGEA still in act and candidate threat for the position of the world’s largest card room partypoker.com out of the competition zone for now pokerstars.com is still enjoying the luxury of the valuable time to gain liquidity and seal its position as market leader as its only serious rival in the booming US market is Full Tilt Poker and maybe UB.com therefore allowing the card room to make poker promotions as attractive as the Micromania PokerStars Promotion which will be running this July.

All said pokerstars.com is today offering players not only 12 times the old bonus but even more a revised rakeback equivalent program which makes rakeback look meaningless; timing might be a contributing factor but the marketing strategy followed by pokerstars.com can be very much fit for a good practice case study. Important note* The PokerStars VIP Program can be enjoyed by both new and existing players where the new sign up bonus which is applicable with use of the PokerStars Bonus Code and the PokerStars Marketing Code is only available for players that do not have an account at pokerstars.som. New players have the luxury to enjoy both the sign up bonus and the rewards that come with the PokerStars Rakeback equivalent.

Fans, players and fanatics of the game are posing the question of how do you explain poker being categorized gambling when you have Phil Ivey as the best example to prove this wrong. Many people have begun to wonder whether the Phil Ivey phenomenon needs scientific research. Poker is clearly a game of skill in the long stage but when we talk about short-term situations such as poker tournaments luck plays a very important part. So how can a player like Ivey pick to win tournaments at will ? Perhaps this is the reason he is considered unanimously by his colleagues as the leading player in the world and not just in cash games where deep stacks and reloads are an advantage but even more in tournaments where his skill comes to surface. Recently, Ivey won his eighth World Series of Poker bracelet on the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, where he received $330,000.

Let’s try a reminder of the exploits of Phil Ivey exclusively for the WSOP. See what which events gave him the eight bracelets over the last 10 years and the profits Ivey obtained;

2000 – $ 2,500 Pot Limit Omaha ($ 195,000)
2002 – $ 2,500 7-Card Stud Hi / Lo ($ 118,440)
2010 – $ 3,000 H.O.R.S.E. ( $ 329,840 )

Note 1: There is as you see a gap between 2002 and 2005. Ivey was not as interested in the tournament this time and this is a very logical explanation: even the prize of first place for most of the bracelets are less than the buy-in cash games in the mainstream which is struggling! The 2009 decision to pull out several million dollars from bracelet bets suddenly becomes a big ‘ boom with two titles! Obviously, the last bracelet was worth much more than $329.840 (as Ivey is estimated to have won about 12 million U.S. dollars in side bets) which perhaps are rumors.

Note 2: Variations of the game . Really how can you be equally capable in all variations of poker? Tom “durrrr” Dwan surprised everyone with his skills in NL and PLO, but Ivey is equally good in all its variations. So let’s summarize : a leading player in the world on Holdem, Omaha, Stud, Draw, Lowball, mixed games, tournament poker and cash game poker; he simply has the advantage everywhere! And all this from scratch he played for 16 hours a day in Atlantic City losing all his money with a fake ID before reaching the age of 21 and was forced to sleep in the street.

A reporter described the phenomenon of Phil Ivey by using a quote coming from Terry Pratchett” If you believe in yourself, and you dreams, just follow your star you will be defeated by people who have spent years working hard, continuously learning thing!”

Phil Ivey is a member of the fulltiltpoker.com Pro team and a player often featured at the tables at Full Tilt Poker. New players interested in signing up a free account at Full Tilt Poker can sign up by using the Full Tilt Poker Referral Code LUCKYROOM and claim a 100% sign up bonus for all deposits adding up to $600.

With over 23 WSOP events already concluded and #24 ongoing, WSOP action heats up as we approaching fast to event #57 which is no other than the almighty and popular $10,000 No Limit Texas Holdem. The event is scheduled for Monday July 5th and the tournament officials estimate that the participants will exceed the 6494 which is the WSOP 2009 main event record. The financial crisis certainly is not notable at the Las Vegas Casinos as this has been traced to be the most crowded WSOP tournament ever! Over 61,000 players are expected to battle for a WSOP bracelet – the ultimate poker recognition. Last year’s prize pool reached $174,000,000 where poker players from 115 different countries participated in over 50 different WSOP events.

If you would like to participate to a WSOP event and to live the excitement of a high level tournament you can register now through the official WSOP web page. As an alternative you can win a WSOP package by participating on online poker rooms freeroll and freeroll satellites and qualifier satellited for main events where the way to the final tournament can be achieved via satellites or directly by participating to the final table.

What is unique this year is the number of low buy-in events. The tournament officials decided to satisfy the public demand who still eyes large pots but with reasonable buy-ins. All the popular games are offered to buy-ins that vary from $1,000 to $50,000. The WSOP started with the Casino Employees Championship with a buy-in of $500 and 721 entries who battled for the $324,000 prize pool. Pham was the winner of that event who went back to his casino work $71,000 richer! The second event was the glamorous $50,000 Player’s Championship tournament. 116 professional poker players battled for the prize pool of $5,568,000. The winner was no other than Michael Mizrachi who managed to eliminate all the other participants and he won 1,559,000.

The $5,000 No Limit Holdem shootout event enjoyed a 30% increase comparing to 2009 where 358 players battled for the $1,682,600 prize pool. The winner on that event was Joshua Tieman who cashed out his chips worth of $441,692! On June 7th 150 poker players gathered to Rio hotel in order to participate to the $10,000 Seven-card Stud tournament and get a share of the $1,410,000 prize pool. The winner was no other than the Men “The Master” Nguyen who won his seventh World Series of Poker Bracelet and $394,800. Yesterday, Russ “Dutch” Boyd celebrated his second WSOP bracelet as he was the winner of the $2,500 shorthanded Limit Holdem event #23 which
attracted 384 players and a prize pool worth of 883,200.

Earlier this week a vulnerability issue of the poker brand names that operate under the Cereus Network had been announced making players accounts slightly vulnerable to intruders. First, PokerTableRatings and then the Kahnawake Gaming Commission issued statements towards the players to avoid playing on the above mentioned poker rooms using a public or unsecured network gateway. It seems that many players responded to this statement and as a result the Cereus Network suffered a 10% reduction of poker players on peak hours. This forced the site to fall from the sixth spot of real money ring traffic sites to the ninth spot this week as the Cereus security flaw was another direct hit towards the poker rooms that operate over the platform as the figures indicate an 11% drop on a year after year basis.

The network is unable to fight the big poker giants such as Fulltilt Poker and PokerStars where are running the FTOPS and SCOOP respectively and have managed to draw the attention of thousands of new players.

The drop of UB.com and Absolute Poker offered a lift to other poker platforms such as the Boss Media’s International Poker Network where sites as Paradise Poker operate plus sites on Microgaming Network such as Ladbrokes Poker that moved to sixth and eight places respectively.

The worldwide online poker community is anticipating from the Cereus Network Officials to issue a statement that the problem is officially sorted and fixed.

Tokwiro Enterprises is a private company solely owned by Joseph Tokwiro Norton and is headquartered in Kahnawake Mohawk Territory. The company owns two online poker cardrooms, Absolute Poker and UltimateBet currently rebranded as UB Poker. As of November 2008, they jointly operate under the name CEREUS Poker. The CEREUS network is one of the world’s ten largest online poker cardrooms and is currently as US friendly network endorsed by superior names of the poker community including Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke.

US facing online poker room Full Tilt Poker (fulltiltpoker.com) have today announced to be moving strongly in to land based advertising [...]

US facing online poker room Full Tilt Poker (fulltiltpoker.com) have today announced to be moving strongly in to land based advertising with a sponsorship deal hand to hand with Virgin Racing. The agreement seems to have been in the works for several weeks now behind the scenes as according to the announcement made by the second largest online card room, Virgin will be racing Full Tilt badges as of this week at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. The agreement has gone effective at a time when European facing online poker rooms are already losing valuable ground from the two US facing online poker giants pokerstars.com and fulltiltpoker.com. The exposure across the circuits of Formula 1 is expected to raise competition and is anticipated to widen the gap between European facing card rooms and the two previously mentioned giants.

It is noteworthy that after yesterdays news in regards to a possible legalization of the US poker market the two major currently US facing online poker rooms will need as much exposure as possible to penetrate as many International players in order to avoid a jumble of the worldwide rankings in terms of card room size in the case that Party Gaming LSE: PRTY re-introduces its online card room partypoker.com to the US market.

Additionally it is worth mentioning that this is the first official effort placed in from fulltiltpoker.com to advertise offline as till this day major exposure across land based events was covered by pokerstars.com and partypoker.com. Interesting to say that Full Tilt Poker has placed launch day their on the exact same day and circuit Gibraltar based Party Poker had chosen to launch their new sponsorship with Alguersuari.

The qualifying session for this week’s Formula 1 happening is scheduled for Saturday May 8th at 12:00 GMT while the race is scheduled for Sunday May 9th at 12:00 GMT.
