UEFA Europa League (Knock Out Stage First Leg)
Posted on February 18, 2010 by John Trevors for Luckyroom.com
GMT 14:00: Rubin Kazan – Hapoel Tel Aviv
Rubin Kazan finished third on the F Group of Champions League after battling hard against Barcelona and Inter Milan and won the ticket to participate to the Knock-out stage of Europa League. The draw showed favor to the Russians as they have an excellent chance to progress a step further on the tournament as Hapoel Tel Aviv might be a good team but they do not posses the strength to oppose the Russians. For this match our money goes for a home win.
GMT 18:00: Ajax Amsterdam – Juventus
The fans of Ajax and Juventus can curse their lack as they have to face one of the most popular teams in Europe. Ajax finished second on the Group A of Europa league with the same points as Anderlecht while Juventus lost the chance to continue their journey to Champions League after they suffered a home defeat from Bayern Munich in their last game. This will be a close game but it is most probable that Juventus will manage to progress on the next stage. However, Ajax will fight both matches and they do have a slight advantage for the match tonight. It will be wise to cover this game with a double chance 1X.
GMT 18:00: Club Brugge – Valencia
Valencia is travelling to Brugge as clear favorites for this match in an effort to secure an away win. Club Brugge progress to the knock-out stage after they finished on the second spot behind Shakhtar while Valencia had no troubles at all to finish on top spot of their group with a record of three wins and three draws. The Spanish team is far superior than the Belgian and they will want to secure the win from this match. A safe bet should be the double chance of X2 but if Valencia play according their true power can easily secure the away win.
GMT 18:00: FC Twente Enschede – Werder Bremen
Twente is hosting the match against Werder Bremen in a game that is balanced on every level. Certainly the Germans are a better team than Twente and most probably will manage to progress to the next stage; this game has the draw written all over it. If you want to place a safe bet then the X2 double chance will do the trick.
GMT 18:00: Lille – Fenerbahce
Lille will host the first match against Fenerbahce tonight in what seems to be a very interesting encounter. Both teams are on a similar level and they are not any clear favorites regarding who will progress to the next stage. Lille has the home advantage but certainly is not the clear favorites for this match. It is better to avoid betting on this game but if you want to place a bet then cover it with a double chance 1X.
GMT 18:00: Standard Liege – RB Salzburg
Standard Liege is participating on Europa League after they finished third on the Group H of Champions League behind Arsenal and Olympiakos. Tonight they are facing Salzburg, a team which dominated their Group with 6 wins after 6 matches against teams such as Lazio and Villarreal. However, the fact that Standard is performing quite well at home balances the excellent performances of Salzburg. We consider that a high likely result for this game is the draw.
GMT 18:00: Villarreal – Wolfsburg
This is a hard year for both Villarrreal and Wolfsburg as the Europa League tournament is an excellent way to ease the voices of their fans. Villarreal is the favorite tonight against Wolfsburg but they will have to prove it on the pitch. We expect a close game with one or two goals max. If you want to place a bet then the under 2.5 goals or the home win will be a good choice.
GMT 20:05: Athletic Bilbao – Anderlecht
Athletic Bilbao will host the match against Anderlecht in what seems to be an evenly sided game. The Belgians have in their favorite their long experience in European tournaments while the Spaniards will oppose the home win advantage and the solid performances that brought them on this stage. Anderlecht is the favorite to progress for the next stage but this game most likely will end as a draw.
GMT 20:05: Atletico Madrid – Galatasaray
Atletico Madrid is quite unpredictable this year, although they seem to have found balance lately. They are hosting the match against Galatasaray for the Europa League after they failed to overcome the obstacles of Chelsea and Porto for the Champions League. On the other hand, Galatasaray finished first on their Europa League group with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. If Atletico perform as they are able to, they will not have absolutely any problem to secure an easy win. However, the Turks will travel to Madrid with a tight defense formation in order to secure a good result. The online sports books have Atletico as clear favorites with the odds down to 1.62 so if you would like to bet on this then home win should be your choice.
GMT 20:05: FC Copenhagen – Marseille
Copenhagen is hosting the match against Marseille in a game that they come in as clear underdogs. Marseille posses both the quality and the desire to end any speculations regarding who will progress from this pair and they will travel to Denmark in order to win. Our money goes for an away win on this one as Marseille is a far superior team.
GMT 20:05: Fulham – Shakhtar Donetsk
Shakhtar will travel to England to face Fulham in a very interesting match. The Ukrainians are the last years winners of the UEFA Europa League trophy and they know better than anyone what is needed in order to progress further. On the other hand, Fulham should be more than happy that they reached the knock-out stage and from now on will face each match without any stress for recognition. Our opinion is that those teams will cancel each other and the game most probably will end as a draw.
GMT 20:05: Hamburger SV – PSV Eindhoven
Hamburger is facing PSV tonight in a match where the Germans will want to secure a result that will bring them a step closer to next stage. On the other hand, PSV will travel to Germany with a tight formation in order to prevent Hamburger to score more than one goal. The Germans are capable of securing a win but it will not be as easy as the sports book predict. The home win odds are down to 1.65 but the choice of double chance of 1X is much wiser.
GMT 20:05: Hertha BSC – Benfica
Hertha is hosting the match against Benfica tonight and this is most probably the last game that they will play for any European tournaments for this year; and the next one. The Germans are on the last spot of Budesliga and they are battling to avoid relegation, however their efforts are not rewarded so far. On the other hand, if Benfica produces their usual style of play will not have any problem at all to progress on the next stage with two straight wins.
GMT 20:05: Liverpool – Unirea Urziceni
Liverpool will face Unirea in a match in which they are the clear favorites. The Romanians have a good team but they will not be able to produce any opposition for a high flying Liverpool side. Liverpool will manage to win this one quite easily with over 2.5 goals.
GMT 20:05: Panathinaikos – AS Roma
A very interesting match will be played in Athens; the Greek Superleague leaders will face the unbeatable Roma. Roma is the favorite on this one regarding who will progress in the next stage, but Panathinaikos will try to produce a good level of display. The match has the draw written all over it as the superiority of Roma will be balanced from a packed home stadium. If you would like to place a bet then the double chance choice of X2 should be able to cover this match fully.
