This time, the organizers will be running an event in South Africa at the Emerald Resort and Casino. The news have spread like madness as they have managed to surprise the whole worldwide poker community which is found in full support to such a step ahead as the popularity of poker and online poker is increasing over the past years not to mention that major Microgaming online poker rooms and online casinos are run from South Africa. The WSOP South Africa is to be conducted in accordance with the notice which was given to the public during the 24th and the 31st of October at the Emerald Resort and Casino. The first tournament will be a pot limit omaha event with a buy in of $1,100 while rebuys are set to be at $300 for the first time with the add-on set at $400. The Main Event will buy in at $ 5,000 while players will start with 40,000 chips (with blinds set at 50-100) going up every hour. There will be a cap for registrations at 500 players to ensure flawless success.
The poker manager of Emerald Casino said, “Poker has become very popular over the last five years. The tournaments we do here and the ever growing fields confirm the rapid growth of the sport. It was a natural consequence of the greater number of tournaments in the world to come here”. Hopefully the brand name of the WSOP will be the guarantee for a high calibre tournament.
